2018 Federal Budget and Commitments to Seniors' Health

Feb 28, 2018

On February 27, the Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau released the Liberal Government's third budget submission. As part of this Budget, the federal government made the following commitments to seniors' health:

  • $20M over five years, starting in 2018-2019, and $4M per year ongoing, to the Public Health Agency of Canada to support community-based projects that address the challenges of dementia.
  • $75M in 2018-2019 through the Public Health Agency of Canada to support the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project in New Brunswick.

In response to these commitments, the Canadian Association of Long Term Care (CALTC), of which ACCA is on the Executive, has prepared this news release, applauding the Federal Government but noting there is still work to be done.
